Setting eCalls

The eCall emergency call system automatically contacts emergency services in the event of a serious vehicle accident. It can be triggered by onboard sensors (e.g., airbag deployment) or manually by the driver.

The system transmits the vehicle’s location and other critical data to the nearest Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) using mobile networks.

Vodafone Business Managed IoT Connectivity Platform users can manage eCall configuration for individual SIMs via the platform – unless the eCall mode for that SIM is set to “No eCall supported”.

To set an eCall

  1. From the menu on the left of the Vodafone Business Managed IoT Connectivity Platform Dashboard or home page, select SIMs.

  2. This takes you to the SIM List, where you can select a SIM to view the SIM Details window.

  3. Choose Set eCall. A window showing the existing eCall attributes of that SIM appears. You can then change these settings to meet your requirements.

  4. Select Next to continue or Cancel to cancel your changes. If you choose Next, you will then be taken to a confirmation screen summarising the changes made.

  5. Select Previous to modify your changes or Change to continue. You should receive confirmation of your changes (or their failure) via a pop-up window. If you checked the box to receive a notification email, this will also be sent at this point.
